[PIB] IAFs Mi-17 evacuated nine local villagers from Har ki Paudi near Bahu Fort, Jammu today. The villagers who were stuck due to rising waters of the normally shallow Tawi river were trying to cross the stream but were stuck due to flash floods in the river Tawi caused by recurrent rains in the J & K region. IAFs prompt response to the district administrations request resulted in a Jammu based Mi-17 being launched to evacuate the stranded villagers who were flown to safety.
