[PIB] IAF personnel rescued 27 marooned villagers from Parol Nullah near Kathua, in Jammu, late last evening. Reacting to the request made by the Jammu administration, an IAF Mi-17 from Jammu airbase was launched to evacuate the villagers who were marooned owing to a flash flood that occurred yesterday. The evacuated included 11 women, a 62-year old man and a two year old infant among others.
It may be mentioned that in a similar operation on July 17, IAF Mi-17 operating from Jammu also evacuated 8 tourists and 3 civil defence personnel from a small island on Tawi river, following the spate of floods that occurred in the region.
