Retired Army colonel Ramaraj applies for bail in Dilson murder case

CHENNAI: Retired Army colonel Kandasamy Ramaraj, accused in the murder of 13-year-old P Dilson, has applied for bail at the Madras high court. Justice G Rajasuria adjourned the matter to Friday for further hearing.
In his petition, Ramaraj said he was falsely implicated in the case. There was no material evidence to show that these bullets were fired from his rifle.
According to the report from the ballistics division of the forensics department, bullets seized from the scene of crime were broken. Since all the portions of the bullet were not recovered, the caliber of the bullet could not be determined.
Ramaraj submitted that his confession was fabricated by the police and not voluntary. "The petitioner is victimised and the investigation is biased, in order to safeguard the interest of the actual offenders," the petition said.
