NEW DELHI: The Army will order an inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind its helicopter straying into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Army sources said on Sunday night.
Pakistani military forced an Indian Army helicopter to land in PoK and took four personnel on board into "military custody" after the chopper allegedly violated their country's airspace.
The crisis was quickly defused through diplomatic interventions and the chopper was allowed to return to India.
The Cheetah helicopter with four officers on board returned to Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir around 6pm, ending an inadvertent intrusion that immediately triggered urgent talks between the two foreign and military establishments.
It had taken off from Leh in Jammu and Kashmir's Ladakh region and was bound for Bhimbhat in Drass sector near Kargil, on the LoC, to bail out an Indian Army helicopter that got grounded there after a snag.
