JAIPUR: Army Chief General V K Singh today reviewed the conduct of the ongoing exercise 'Shoor Veer' in Rajasthan's Humangarh and nearby region.

The Army Chief was received by Lieutenant General Gyan Bhushan, General Oficer Commanding-in-Chief (Army Commander), of South Western Command), in the exercise area.

The COAS was briefed on the training aspects, new concepts of warfare being tried and the conduct of the exercise by Lieutenant General Ashok Singh, General Officer Commanding 1 Corps, and Lt. Gen Sanjeev Anand, General Officer Commanding 'Chetak Corps'.

The Army chief witnessed the exercise that entails the launch of theatre offensive by Sapta Shakti Command spearheaded by 1 Corps and Chetak Corps.

The exercise displayed synergy of Army and Air Force in launching air-land battle and the capability to orchestrate battle in network centric environment with integration of reconnaissance, surveillance and electronic warfare and communication assets to provide real time battle and situational awareness of commanders, according to an official release.

[PIB] The Army Commanders’ Conference will be held at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi from 25 Oct to 29 Oct 10. The conference will commence on 25 Oct with the address by Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Shri A K Antony. The conference will be chaired by Chief of the Army Staff General VK Singh.

The five day conference will review the security situation, emerging challenges and options / strategies. Issues pertaining to operational logistics to include infrastructure development and modernization will also be discussed.

Keeping pace with the technology transformation and advancement, the conference will also focus on training and its effectiveness based on state of art technology for meeting the future challenges as also attaining a high state of combat readiness.

The conference will address issues pertaining to welfare and improvement in the satisfaction level to include policies, medical support system and other related aspects, impacting enhancement of the overall operational efficiency.

[ANI] Chief of Army Staff General Vijay Kumar Singh on Monday described artillery as the decisive arm in a battlefield.General Singh said that the role of artillery has been proved beyond doubt in the US war in Iraq and in the Kargil war a decade ago in India
“During the Kargil episode, the artillery firepower became a battle-winning factor in ensuring that the will of the enemy was seriously degraded. For, desired degradation is well appreciated,” said General Singh at the International Seminar on Artillery Technology organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). General Singh also said that with induction of latest weapon systems, Indian army has achieved a long-range destruction capability.
