[Aviation Week] India’s new Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), which had its first unofficial flight on March 29, has made five more test flights ahead of its first official outing in May.Its makers at the Bangalore-based Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) are currently putting the helicopter through initial flying lessons. Insiders confirmed to Aviation Week that so far six flights have been made, including an aborted one owing to bad weather.
Based on the proven Dhruv platform, the slim and sleek aircraft has a tandem configuration, embedded with stealth features and glass cockpit. “The performance has been excellent so far and the entire team is pleased. It’s a very steady platform,” HAL chairman Ashok Nayak told Aviation Week.

[AOA/Livefist] In what appears to be a major achievement for HAL and the Indian military aviation sector ,the country’s first indigenously developed attack helicopter, the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) has made its maiden test flight. According to unconfirmed sources the LCH serial number “ZP 4601″ took to skies today.

[Tribune] India’s first indigenously made Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) will be making its maiden flight soon, most likely by the end of this month. Managing Director of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s helicopter complex R Srinavasan today said development of the LCH was well on its way and the attack helicopter would have its initial flight very soon. “The LCH has successfully completed its initial ground test runs,” he told a seminar on helicopters, Helipower India, organised by the Rotary Wing Society of India

[DNA] India’s first indigenous light combat helicopter (LCH) may embark on its first flight this month.
Being built at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bangalore, the LCH completed its first ground run on February 4.

Based on the LCH’s performance that day, its developers believe that the attack helicopter will be ready to fly soon.
